Don’t you just love this picture? It makes a statement all of its own and I really wish I knew the story behind it.

Steaua – Ajax, epic!

Waaaa, unbelievable! Ajax Amsterdam sent home by Steaua after a fantastic game! This means Steaua Bucharest will play Chelsea in the last 16 of the Europa League as they overcame Ajax 4-2 on penalties. Having said that, the Steaua keeper is big and has a great name. Congrats to our boys! Watch out, Chelsea!

Stairs and unfinished stories.

The wit and wisdom of Mr. Ogilvy can be extremely valuable to marketers and advertisers because pretty much sums up everything. Nevertheless, the same is true if you replace “product” with “photo”.

Let’s take the example of photos depicting stairs. What could one say about stairs? They come in various sizes and widths, they’re made of cement, wood, or maybe skateboards and salt, if you leave it to your imagination. That’s pretty much all there is to it, right? Stairs. Elevators are better, anyway. Stairs. Pretty boring, eh? Well, not quite. Stairs are pretty awesome, actually. You don’t have to believe me. You just have to scroll down a bit.

“Pozitia Copilului” a castigat, in urma cu cateva ore, marele premiul al Festivalului International de Film de la Berlin. Asta dupa ce, la editia din 2010 a Berlinalei, “Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier”, primea Marele Premiu al Juriului – Ursul de Argint si distinctia “Alfred Bauer” pentru noi perspective in arta cinematografica. Dupa ce, tot anul asta, “Dupa Dealuri” lua premiul special al juriului la Festivalul International de Film din Gijon si premiul pentru cel mai bun scenariu, la Cannes. Dupa ce, in 2009, “Politist, adjectiv” castiga premiul juriului sectiunii “Un certain regard”, tot la Cannes. Si dupa ce, in urma cu 5 ani, “4 luni, 3 saptamani, 2 zile” aducea in Romania mult-ravnitul Palme D’or.

Cinematografia romaneasca e, in momentul asta, cel mai bun brand de tara pe care il avem.

What happens when you project ‘The Lorax’ onto falling snow

These Snowstorm of 2013 photos aren’t your typical snapshots of vehicles buried in snow or hipsters building anatomically correct snowmen. With a little patience, trial and error, photographer Brian Maffitt produced magnificent images that look like something out of a SF movie, a DNA lab or like going through a car wash inside of a rave. To capture his unique “Projector Snow” images, which you can see here, he pointed an old projector out a bedroom window as the mighty snowstorm known as Nemo dumped 15 inches of powder on Maffitt’s hometown of Chestnut Ridge, New York, over the weekend, last week. Using an Apple TV, the photog pulled up the first kids’ movie he could find on Netflix, ‘The Lorax’ (should’ve been ‘Finding Nemo’, obviously) and began beaming the colorful video into the night. The result is absolutely beautiful: colorful, digital confetti. 🙂
